NO FRUMPINESS HERE!
Too Often Modest Clothing is Thought to be Synonymous with Frumpiness. Not True Any Longer. Every so often an article pops up in a newspaper or magazine that shouts to the world the “shocking” news that women and teenager girls are looking for more modesty in their clothing and dress options. Articles with wildly fantastic headlines such as Mom Shocked by Teen’s Modest Clothing by Eileen Putnam on CNN.com. While this is all really fantastic news, unfortuntately the concept of “Modest Clothing” brings to mind chin-height, wrist- and ankle-length frumpy clothing similar to what Ma Ingalls would sew for Mary and Laura. In part due to these frequent articles and the backlash of the demand for more modest clothing many company’s and retailers are taking note. However, one thing seemed to have been forgotten: style.
While Ma Ingalls had available to her only muslin and cotton fabrics, woven coarsly so as to be as durable as possible, limited styling options and let’s face it…how many different ways can a person sew a pinafore? Fortunately today there are so many various options available in both fabrics, styles and accrouments that there is no reason for a modest clothing item to be frumpy, boring and plain. Thanks to companies like Diviine ModesTee, more emphasis has been placed on modest and modern clothing.
Modern detailing such as ruching, chiffon trim, empire waists and satin bows add classiness and style, and in some cases can even add to the modesty of a particular clothing item. Very nice designs. My clothing was inspired by Albert Einstein who had 7 identical sets of clothes so he never wasted any brain energy on what to wear. I had 24 T-Shirts screened with my company name and website printed on both front and back. The T-shirt with a set of modest pants is my clothing theme and it works very well for me.
